Itinerary

 

Day 1 – Meet your chauffeur in the Arrivals Hall of Belfast International Airport.  Visit with a genealogist at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland located in Belfast.   Depart for Ballymena.  Relax and explore the grounds of your luxury hotel and prepare for your magical journey through Norther Ireland. Overnight: Ballygally Castle Hotel, Antrim Coast (B)

Day 2 – Today visit the Ulster American Folk Park and be immersed in the world famous story of Irish emigration at the museum that brings it to life.  Follow the emigrant trail as you journey from the thatched cottages of Ulster, see life on board a full scale emigrant sailing ship leading to the log cabins of the American Frontier. Arrive in Derry in the afternoon with some time to explore this ancient city on foot. Day 3- This morning join a local guide for  a walking tour around Derry, still mostly encircled by its medieval city walls. They are among the best-preserved city fortifications in the Western World.  Learn about the city’s fascinating history while enjoying some spectacular scenery. In the afternoon visit the Tower Museum.  Permanent exhibitions at the museum include The Story of Derry exhibition and the Armada Shipwreck – La Trinidad Valencera exhibition.  Overnight Bishop’s Gate Hotel, Derry (B)  

Day 4 –  Today visit the Giant’s Causeway, hexagonal basalt columns formed over 60 million years ago. Legends about giants abound, especially Finn McCool, a hardy Ulster hero. Day 5 – Set out along the beautiful Antrim coast and stop at the exhilarating Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge over a 30-metre deep and 20-metre wide chasm originally erected by salmon fishermen. If you are bold enough to cross to the rocky island you will be rewarded with fantastic views.  Journey along the spectacular “Glens of Antrim”, nine wooded river valleys running down to the shore.  It’s a coastline sprinkled with historic castles, churches and forts. Continue onto Belfast City.  This evening you may wish to visit the Crown Liquor Saloon, a restored national landmark in the heart of the city.  Overnight The Merchant Hotel, Belfast (B)  

Day 6 – This morning take a tour through Belfast City, rich in Victorian and Edwardian architecture. See major points of interest including Stormont House, Belfast City Hall and Queen’s University. Visit the newly opened Titanic Belfast, a must see visit in any tour of Northern Ireland. It is located in the heart of Belfast, on the slipways where RMS Titanic was built. Inside this iconic building, we will re-live the entire Titanic story from her birth in Belfast to the fateful maiden voyage and her eventual discovery on the seabed.Overnight: The Merchant Hotel, Belfast (B)
