Our Itinerary


Departure Day –
Saturday 17th May 2025
Depart the US.

Day 1 – Sunday 18 May –  After landing at Shannon Airport, pass through customs and immigration. The group will meet at Shannon Airport (time TBA) where we will be welcomed by our hosts Scott Kirby and Gabriel Donohue along with our coach driver. Stop in Kinvara at the Pier Head for a light lunch. Enjoy a welcome drink and learn a little bit about Abbeyglen and the surrounding area before joining your fellow travelers for a dinner tonight at your hotel.   Overnight Abbeyglen Castle Hotel, Clifden (B, D)

Day 2 – Monday 19 May – This morning after breakfast enjoy a cruise along Ireland’s only fjord, Killary.  See some of Ireland’s finest scenery from the comfort of this luxurious catamaran. Arrive in Westport, home of Matt Molloy (Chieftains) world famous pub”.  Enjoy some free time for lunch on your own and a stroll around this lovely town. Return to Clifden.

Day 3 – Tuesday 20 May – Visit Kylemore Abbey, one of the most photographed locations in Ireland. Built in 1867, the Abbey and the surrounding mountains and lakes are steeped in Irish lore. Some time here for lunch and to explore the walled gardens. Next stop, the Connemara History & Heritage Center which offers an insight into the history and heritage of this beautiful part of the West of Ireland. See how turf (peat) is cut and sample a drop of ‘poitín’.  Arrive in Galway City and check into your city center hotel overlooking Eyre Square. Overnight Park House Hotel, Galway (B, D)

Day 4 – Wednesday 21 May – This morning enjoy a walking tour of Galway City otherwise know as ‘the city of the tribes’ with local man Brian Nolan. The remainder of the day is free to explore the city on foot.  Take a walk through the Latin Quarter, explore the Galway City Museum and see the Spanish Arch.  Perhaps take a stroll along the prom in Salthill overlooking Galway Bay.  Meet your fellow travelers for an evening on the town exploring the Galway pub scene.  Overnight Park House Hotel, Galway (B)

Day 5 – Thursday 22 May – Today travel south into the Burren, a veritable moonscape of glacial limestone with majestic mountains, gentle valleys and babbling brooks. Its extraordinary array of flora and fauna make the Burren a tapestry of color with a deeply spiritual aura. Stop at the Cliffs of Moher and take in the stunning Clare coastline.  Take the ferry across the Shannon at Killimer. Stop in Listowel home to John B. Kean’s Pub before arriving in Dingle.  Overnight Dingle Skellig Hotel, Dingle (B, D)

Day 6 – Friday 23 May – After breakfast travel along the Dingle Peninsula, delight in the stunning views of the Slieve Mish Mountains, Dingle Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Near Slea Head, Ireland’s Westernmost point, see the Blasket Islands offshore. Visit the Blasket Center a fascinating heritage and cultural museum, honoring the unique community who lived on the remote Blasket Islands until their evacuation in 1953. Day 7 – Saturday 24 May – Today travel to Limerick City for a visit to King John’s Castle. It’s a mighty fortress with a dramatic history and over 800 years of stories within its walls, which is brought to life in a stunning exhibition. Touch-screen technology will connect you to tales of siege and warfare. Watch out for a dazzling array of CGI animations and ghostly projections.   Arrive in Ennis in the late afternoon. Day 8 – Sunday 25 May –  SLAN ABHAILE (SAFE TRAVELS HOME) I hope you have enjoyed your time in Ireland exploring Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Arrive at Shannon Airport with plenty of time to clear customs and immigration. There is a wonderful selection of duty-free shopping available at the airport for any last-minute gifts.
