Those who prefer to make flight arrangements outside of the group flights please take note.  You must be at Dublin Airport by 9am on 8 July to meet the driver and join this tour.  At the conclusion of the tour, you may utilize transportation to the Dublin airport with the group. Please book your return flight after 11:30am and be sure to provide flight details as early as possible to Isle Inn Tours.

Monday, July 7

Enjoy new non-stop service departing Detroit at 9:20 pm on Delta flight 292 to Dublin.

Day1
Tuesday, July 8

Céad míle fáilte! Upon arrival at Dublin Airport, meet our Irish driver/guide in the Arrivals Hall.  Our flight is scheduled to arrive by 9.30am. Once everyone has convened, our driver/guide will escort us to our motorcoach to begin our journey which will be full of Irish culture, history, music and of course the hospitality the Irish are known for.  Stop at Killashee Manor for tea & scones and a chance to freshen up. Arrive in the Medieval City of Kilkenny and check-in to our hotel. Meet with a local guide for a walking tour of this fascinating city.  Return to our hotel for dinner.

Day 2
Wednesday, July 9

After our first full Irish breakfast we journey south to New Ross to visit the Dunbrody Emigrant Ship which provides a unique insight into a period of history which shaped modern day Ireland and the U.S., the Great Famine, and the reasons so many people emigrated to America in the mid-19th century.  Return to Kilkenny for a tour and tasting at the Smithwick’s Brewery.  After, perhaps take a leisurely stroll around Kilkenny to explore the lanes, streets, and stories of this remarkable place.

Day 3
Thursday, July 10

Following breakfast we depart Kilkenny for Cork City.  Along the way we’ll visit the Rock of Cashel, which was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster. Most buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries.  The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. Arrive in Cork city and meet a local guide for a walking tour around the fascinating center of Cork City. Explore the monastic origins, the merchant trade, the amazing geography and the stunning architecture of Ireland’s 2nd city.

Day 4
Friday, July 11

After breakfast, Today travel east to Waterford for a visit to the House of Waterford Crystal which comprises a visitor center and opulent retail store housing the largest collection of Waterford Crystal in the world.  A guided tour will give us firsthand access to all areas of traditional crystal production. Some free time to explore Waterford.  Return to Cork via Midleton for a tour and tasting of the famous whiskey. A brief stop at the Kindred Spirits Memorial which commemorates the 1847 donation by the Native American Choctaw People to Irish famine relief during the Great Hunger.

Day 5
Saturday, July 12

This morning visit the world famous Blarney Castle.  You may climb to the top and kiss the stone to receive the ‘gift of the gab’.  Next, a stop just outside Killarney to experience a mesmerizing Falconry demonstration.  You’ll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these impressive birds of prey.  Free time in Killarney to explore the town and do some shopping before our arrival in Dingle.  Overnight: Dingle Skellig Hotel, Dingle (B, D)

 

 

Day 6
Sunday, July 13

Today tour the famous Dingle Peninsula to delight in the stunning views of the Slieve Mish Mountains, the shoreline of Dingle Bay and the open Atlantic Ocean. Stop to see border collie dogs Jess and Sam at work herding the sheep. Near Slea Head, Ireland’s Westernmost point, see the Blasket Islands offshore, and possibly America. Visit the Blasket Center a fascinating heritage and cultural museum, honoring the unique community who lived on the remote Blasket Islands. Overnight: Dingle Skellig Hotel, Dingle (B)

 

Day 7
Monday, July 14

Today we will travel up the west coast to Galway City.  Taking a ferry across the Shannon from Tarbert to Killimer. Travel through the Burren, an impressive region with a limestone landscape that cultivates unique flora and megalithic tombs and monuments older than Egypt’s pyramids.  Stop to visit the magnificent Cliffs of Moher which rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.  Time to walk to the cliff edge and breathe in the fresh Irish air. Arrive in Galway city in the late afternoon.

Day 8
Tuesday, July 15

This morning visit Kylemore Abbey, one of the most photographed locations in Ireland. Built in 1867, the Abbey and the surrounding mountains and lakes are steeped in Irish lore. Next a cruise along Ireland’s only fjord, Killary.  See some of Ireland’s finest scenery from the comfort of this luxurious catamaran. Continue the drive through the magnificent Connemara Peninsula and the stunning views of boglands and misty mountains. Return to Galway in the afternoon with time to explore the city independently.

Day 9
Wednesday, July 16

This morning free time in Galway City to visit the Cathedral, St. Nicholas Church, The Galway City Museum, the Spanish Arch or just wander the cobbled stone streets in the Latin Quarter. Depart Galway after lunch. Stop at Clonmacnoise an early Christian site founded by St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century on the banks of the River Shannon. The long and varied history of Clonmacnoise is recounted in an audiovisual presentation. Arrive at the Johnstown Estate.

Day 10
Thursday, July 17

After breakfast depart for Dublin Airport with time for last-minute duty-free shopping.  (B) 

After breakfast drive to Dublin Airport. You will clear US Customs, Border Protection (Passport) and TSA in time for a little last minute Duty-Free shopping. You’ll arrive back in the U.S. as a “domestic” passenger making it convenient to connect to an onward flight or to exit the airport with ease.  Slán abhaile! – Safe home! (B)

Take Delta #293 at 11:30am to, arrive in Detroit at 2.30pm.
