Flight Information

Group airfare will be available from Washington, Dulles International Airport (IAD).  Schedule details (subject to change) will be published by the airlines and available by October, 2024. Connecting flights from your local airport may available at an additional cost, call our office for details.

 

 

Those who prefer to make flight arrangements outside of the group flights  please take note.  You must be at London’s Heathrow Airport on July 29, 2025 to meet the driver and join this tour.  At the conclusion of the tour, you may utilize transportation to the Manchester, England (MAN)  airport with the group. Please provide flight details as early as possible to Isle Inn Tours.

 

Our Itinerary

 

Depart USA – Monday, July 28, 2025

Overnight flight from Dulles to London Heathrow.

Day 2 – Tuesday, July 29, 2025

Upon our flight arrival in London, we will transfer by coach to the historic city of Bath. En route, we will stop for a pub lunch in Avebury, a charming village known for its impressive Neolithic stone circle, one of the largest in Europe. Our journey continues to Bath, where we will check in at the elegant Hotel Indigo for a two night stay. The day concludes with a delightful welcome dinner at the hotel, offering us a chance to relax and meet fellow travelers. (L, D)

Day 3 – Wednesday, July 30, 2025

Today, we will explore the picturesque city of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning Georgian architecture. Our day begins with a guided walking tour, showcasing Bath’s historic landmarks, including the iconic Royal Crescent. In the afternoon, we will have the opportunity to visit the famous Roman Baths, with entry tickets included. Quilting enthusiasts can choose to visit Mark Pickles Sewing Studio for a unique experience. (B)

Day 4 – Thursday, July 31, 2025

Our journey continues as we depart Bath for Chedworth Roman Villa, one of Britain’s grandest Roman sites managed by the National Trust. After exploring the villa, we will visit The Warwickshire Gin Company for a delightful gin tasting experience. In the late afternoon, we will travel to Coventry, where we will check in at Hotel Indigo for a two-night stay, ready to explore the local culture and history.

Day 5 – Friday, August 1st, 2025

Today is The Festival of Quilts

Today is a highlight for quilting enthusiasts, with a full day dedicated to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC. Return train tickets are provided, ensuring a comfortable and easy journey to and from the festival. For those not attending the festival, a guided walking tour of Coventry offers an insightful look into the city’s rich history. In the evening, we will reconvene for dinner at the hotel, sharing stories of our day’s adventures. (B, D)

Day 6 – Saturday, August 2nd, 2025

The day begins with a visit to The Manor at Hemingford Grey, one of England’s oldest continuously inhabited houses. We will enjoy exploring its charming gardens and historic rooms. Later, we will travel to Bolsover Castle, a fairytale Stuart mansion known for its panoramic views and rich history. In the evening, we will arrive in York and check in at No. 1 York, a boutique hotel, where we will spend the next three nights.

Day 7 – Sunday August 3rd, 2025

We will start our day with a guided walking tour of York, a city steeped in history and culture. The tour will include visits to the city’s iconic landmarks, such
as York Minster and the Shambles. After the tour, the afternoon is free for us to explore York at our own pace, perhaps visiting the local shops or enjoying a
leisurely stroll along the city walls. Dinner will be at The Black Swan, a renowned restaurant in York, known for its exquisite cuisine. (B, D)

Day 8 – Monday, August 4th, 2025

Today, we will embark on a scenic tour of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, a region known for its rugged landscapes, historic abbeys, and charming market towns. The day will be enriched by the insights of a knowledgeable Blue Badge guide, who will share stories and historical facts about the region’s rich heritage. Our first stop is Staithes, with its white cottages perched on the edge of the cliff, followed by Runswick Bay, where we’ll take a walk around the scenic village and stroll along the flat, sandy beach at Sandsend. Our next port of call will be Whitby, where we will stop for fresh fish and chips, savoring the traditional flavors of the region, and enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town of Whitby. We will visit the gothic Abbey perched on the clifftop and hear stories of Dracula, whaling, Vikings, polar bears, and Captain Cook. From here, we will visit the former smuggling village of Robin Hood’s Bay before returning to our hotel with a scenic drive across the North York Moors.

Day 9 – Tuesday August 5th, 2025

We will depart York and journey towards the Lake District, known for its stunning scenery and tranquil lakes. We’ll stop for lunch at The Dalesman Country Inn, offering a taste of local hospitality. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a serene sunset Windermere cruise, providing a unique perspective of the Lake District’s natural beauty. The day concludes with check-in to our hotel.

Day 10 – Wednesday, August 6th, 2025

Our Lake District exploration continues with a visit to William Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, the poet’s famous home, which offers a glimpse into his life and work. We will then enjoy a guided tour of the Lake District, led by a Blue Badge guide, who will share fascinating stories about the area’s history and
significance. Dinner will be served at the hotel, providing a relaxing end to a day of discovery.

Day 11, Thursday, August 7, 2025

Departing from the Lake District, we will visit the Quaker Tapestry Museum, where we will marvel at the intricate needlework displays that depict Quaker history. Our tour will then continue to the Silk Museum, offering insights into the region’s textile heritage. In the evening, we gather for our final night and enjoy a farewell dinner, reflecting on the highlights of the journey.

Day 12, Friday, August 8, 2025

On the final day of our tour, we will travel to Manchester Airport for our return flights home. We will depart with new friendships, wonderful memories, and plenty of quilting inspiration, marking the end of a truly unforgettable experience. (B)
