Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Ireland.
Day1 – Thursday, September 17
Dublin Airport – Galway City – Salthill
Fáilte Roimh Éirinn!! Welcome to Ireland!!
Upon our arrival in Ireland in the early morning, receive a warm welcome from our driver/guide and board the luxury coach to begin the journey. Along the way, stop to stretch our legs and enjoy a delightful spread of tea and freshly baked scones, setting the tone for the journey ahead.
On arrival in famed Galway City, we will lunch at one of the many excellent restaurants (maybe Mc Donagh’s for their world-famous fish and chips).
While waiting for check-in time, board the Corrib Princess and relax as you sail north up the River Corrib. Hear of Galway’s past, including tales of Celtic mythology, Viking invaders and Galway’s feuding families.
See castles that were home to some of Galway’s most interesting characters. Sail onto the beautiful Lough Corrib, where you will see the spectacular Connemara mountains to the West. The crystal clear waters are home to courting swans, hunting herons and jumping salmon. During the return trip to Galway, sample one of the best Irish coffees in Ireland.
This afternoon check in to the hotel. Relax, perhaps in the Spa. Dinner at the hotel. After dinner, stroll along the Salthill Promenade and take in the incredible views of Galway Bay.

Day 2 – Friday, September 18
Galway – Aran Islands – Galway
After a short drive from the hotel to Rossaveel Harbour, board a ferry to Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands. Once on board, feel the sea air against your face while admiring Galway Bay views. Upon arrival, get an introduction to the islands’ culture and history at Árann, the excellent visitor center. Explore Inis Mór by rented bicycle or by traditional pony and trap. Visit the breathtaking fortress at Dun Aonghusa, perched dramatically on a cliff edge. When you are done exploring, Kilronan village is a fantastic place to get a pint of Guinness while waiting to board the ferry for the return trip to the mainland.
This evening, join fellow travelers for our Welcome Dinner. Celebrate your arrival in Ireland with traditional Irish music and folk stories told by seanchaí Eddie Lenihan (an esteemed storyteller in the Gaelic tradition).

Day 3 – Saturday, September 19
Galway City – Transfers will be provided from Salthill to the City Center.
The entire day at your leisure. Enjoy the city with a bohemian flavor; laid back, relaxed and ready for a party. Eyre Square, the city’s center, is surrounded by shops and traditional pubs. It is always a joy to explore the wonderful, cobbled streets, colorful shop facades, and pub culture.

Day 4 – Sunday, September 20
Salthill – Cliffs of Moher – Spanish Point
Begin the day with 9:30 Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, Salthill, just a 15 minute walk along the famed Salthill Prom.
GAA Hurling Fixture at Pearse Stadium
This morning, take a short walk to Pearse Stadium to cheer on a youth hurling team representing the Salthill Knocknacarra Gaelic Athletic Association – more commonly known as the GAA. The GAA is not just a sporting body. It is deeply woven into Irish life. Throughout its history, the GAA has had an impact on Irish independence and has held Irish communities together. A local representative will share the importance of GAA to Ireland.
Head south from Salthill to begin your journey along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. This once in a lifetime journey takes you from Galway Bay to Mizen Head. You will experience the historic towns, the dramatic vistas and the beautiful countryside of Ireland’s west coast.
The Burren
Travel through the rugged Burren, Ireland’s stony place (Bhoireann). The Burren is home to rare alpine plants, delicate wonders that grow in the thin soil and crevices – gentians, orchids, and maidenhair ferns amongst others. The Burren also contains many historic sites, including a ruined Cistercian abbey dating from the 12th century (Corcomroe); a large megalithic tomb (Parknabinnia); and Celtic high crosses (Kilfenora).
The next stop is one of Ireland’s favorite visitor experiences – the Cliffs of Moher. Located on Europe’s western frontier, the Cliffs provide spectacular vistas over the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands.
During a violent storm in 1588, two ships of the Spanish Armada were wrecked off the coast, and many onboard drowned. Spain was at war with England and, according to local folk memory, the few survivors that made it to shore were executed by the English high sheriff of County Clare. Today, thankfully, Spanish Point is a peaceful beach, welcoming to travelers.
The Armada Hotel is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, overlooking Spanish Point beach. After dinner, stroll along the beach for an amazing sunset at 8:06pm. End the day by sitting by the open fire at the adjacent Johnny Burke’s Pub. Sample a nice pint of a locally brewed beer or a signature bespoke whiskey while soaking in traditional music.

Day 5 – Monday, September 21
Spanish Point – Tralee – Dingle
Travel to Adare, a historic and picturesque heritage town in County Limerick known for its 19th-century thatched cottages and ancient monastic sites.
Visit the Holy Trinity Abbey Church. The Abbey was founded by the Trinitarians in 1230 (the only Trinitarian Abbey founded in Ireland). The Abbey was suppressed as a result of the Reformation. Since being restored in 1811, the Abbey has been the Roman Catholic Church for Adare. Mass TBD.
County Kerry, often referred to as “The Kingdom,” is one of Ireland’s most stunning and iconic destinations.
Stop for lunch in the charming town of Tralee, the home of the annual Rose of Tralee Festival. After lunch, stroll through Tralee Town Park and enjoy the Rose Garden (which contains 35 varieties of roses) and the commemorative Rose Wall.
Follow the scenic route from Tralee to Dingle which will take you through Conor Pass. There will be opportunity to admire Pedlar’s Lake (a glacial corrie lake), the Conor Pass waterfall, and the dramatic views from the highest point of the Conor Pass. Considered one of the iconic viewing points of the Wild Atlantic Way, you can see the Ring of Kerry and the Skellig Islands to the south and Aran Islands to the north.
Arrive in Dingle, a quaint port town on southwest Dingle Peninsula. Enjoy an evening on your own. Stop in one of the fine local pubs (such as O’Flaherty’s Pub or O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Pub) for a pint and traditional Irish music.

Day 6 – Tuesday, September 22
Dingle – Slea Head Loop
Set out on the Slea Head Loop, one of Ireland’s most beautiful drives through scenic ocean and mountain vistas. Stop at Ventry Bay, the site of mythical ‘Cath Fionn Trá’ (or the Battle of Ventry) where Finn McCool and the Fianna, the legendary band of Celtic warriors, defended Ireland from invasion by Dáire Donn, the King of the World. Visit beehive huts and church sites where monks lived, worked and prayed.
Spend time at the Blasket Center in Dunquin to learn about the Blasket Islands, visible off the coast. Abandoned in 1954, the Blasket Islands were once a lively outpost of traditional culture and language.
Return to Dingle for lunch at The Dingle Pub, one of the most famous and iconic pubs in Ireland! Your lunch is on you, but special arrangements have been made to have local musicians play traditional music for the group.
Take the rest of the day to relax, wander and dine as you wish. Sample fresh seafood and enjoy traditional music in one of Dingle’s cozy pubs.

Day 7- Wednesday, September 23
Dingle – Skellig Michael -Sneem
Short stop for a photo op in Castlemaine, the birthplace of the legendary “Wild Colonial Boy,” Jack Duggan.
Visit the Daniel O’Connell Memorial Church of the Holy Cross- Cahersiveen. This Catholic church was named with special papal permission after the great statesman Daniel O’Connell (1775-1847), a lay person, neither a saint nor a deity, but a man who worked tirelessly for Catholic emancipation.
Head for Portmagee and a quick lunch.
This afternoon, depart from the marina in Portmagee and sail up close to Skellig Michael and the Little Skellig to see the wildlife and historical sites. During the time of the Penal Laws, these islands became a haven for many Catholics whose beliefs and rights were being suppressed. Skellig Michael (Sceilg Mhichil) was home to one of the earliest monastic settlements in Ireland.
Head to Sneem for an evening at your leisure. If it is a clear night, check out the sky before retiring. The hotel is located within the Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve and you may see more stars than you ever thought possible.

Day 8 – Thursday, September 24
Sneem – Gap of Dunloe – Ring of Kerry Highlights – Molly Gallivan’s
This morning, tour the magnificent Gap of Dunloe by a traditional horse-drawn jaunting car. The Gap of Dunloe is Ireland’s most spectacular glaciated valley, gouged out of the McGillycuddy Reeks and Purple Mountain. The wild mountain terrain has inspired travelers for thousands of years.
See the highlights of Ireland’s most popular scenic drive, the Ring of Kerry. The stunning mountain landscapes will provide plenty of photo opportunities. Stops will include Ladies’ View, Torc Waterfall and Molls Gap.
This afternoon visit Molly Gallivan’s Cottage & Traditional Farm. Experience the traditions, tales and tastes of rural Ireland in the not-too-distant past. Learn about traditional farm activities, including the cutting of peat, the distilling of illicit poitin, and the baking of traditional Irish soda bread (made with real Kerry butter, fresh from the churn). After working up an appetite, relax while enjoying a three-course traditional Irish meal. During the meal, you will enjoy traditional Irish music, dancing and storytelling. Complete the evening with an Irish coffee making demonstration and, of course, a complimentary Irish coffee.

Day 9 – Friday, September 25
Sneem- Mizen Head – Clonakilty -Kinsale
After breakfast, head toward County Cork. The route takes you over the Cork and Kerry mountains. Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes. Climb up to the Caha Pass. Enter the Turners Rock Tunnel in County Kerry and exit in County Cork.
County Cork is known as the “Rebel County” for its recalcitrance. The nickname, in part, refers to Cork’s role in the War of Independence and its much longer history of challenging claims of authority. Cork’s rebellious history can be traced back several centuries, including to 9th-century clashes with the Vikings and its 12th-century succession from the Kingdom of Munster.
Travel to Mizen Head, Ireland’s most south-westerly point and our final stop along the Wild Atlantic Way. Mizen Head is a must-see location with its spectacular high cliffs, swirling Atlantic Ocean tides and arched footbridge. Before leaving the peninsula, stop for lunch at O’Sullivan’s Bar in Crookhaven, famous for having Ireland’s most southerly pint.
Visit the Michael Collins Center to learn of the Irish patriot and revolutionary hero, Michael Collins. His life story entwined with the history of the fight for Irish independence. Highly qualified tour guides will tell his historic story and happily debate the impact of his life.
Visit the infamous location of Michael Collins’ ambush and assassination. Collins was assassinated here on 2 August 1922 during the Irish Civil War, which was fought between the pro-treaty and the anti-treaty forces.
Head to your hotel in charming Kinsale. Enjoy a group dinner at the hotel.

Day 10 – Saturday, September 26
Kinsale – Cork – Kinsale
A local historian will tell you stories of the Irish patriots who fought and suffered for independence from the British. During this incredible period (1919-1920), they took on the might of the British army, including the notorious Black and Tans, in the streets of Cork City. Visit the locations of the ambushes, assassinations and reprisals that are part of their story.
This afternoon/evening, explore the colorful coastal town of Kinsale at your leisure. Dine at one of the diverse and high-quality restaurants, offering fresh seafood, traditional Irish dishes, and international cuisine.

Day 11 – Sunday, September 27
Kinsale – Blarney – Laois
This morning, visit Blarney Castle and Gardens. 
The Castle is famous for its stone, which has the legendary power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it. The stone is set in the wall below the battlements, and to kiss it one has to lean backwards from the parapet walk. The castle grounds includes tranquil gardens connected by a network of paths. Choose a path and be amazed by the delightful vistas.
Travel to the medieval town of Kilkenny, one of Ireland’s most picturesque and historic cities. Enjoy some free time here to explore independently. Visit the 12th-century Kilkenny Castle, beautifully restored and set in parkland overlooking the River Nore. Stroll along the Medieval Mile, a charming cobblestone route linking the castle to St. Canice’s Cathedral, passing through narrow lanes filled with artisan shops, galleries, and cozy cafés. You may also choose to visit the Smithwick’s Brewery Experience for a taste of local brewing heritage or explore the Kilkenny Design Centre, located near the castle, showcasing Irish crafts and design
On the final evening in Ireland, enjoy the company of your fellow travelers at a farewell dinner. There will be Irish music to entertain the group. Our legendary toastmaster will offer the first toast. Feel free to join in.

Day 12 – Monday, September 28
After breakfast depart for Dublin Airport where you’ll clear US Customs and Immigration in time for a little last-minute Duty-Free shopping.
