Day 1 – Monday 25 September 2023

Day 2 – Tuesday 26 September 2023
Meet your guide in the hotel lobby for a morning walking tour of Glasgow’s city centre murals and street art.
After some free time for lunch, visit the National Piping Centre for a ‘Try the Bagpipes’ session. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a Scottish bagpiper, and be given a tour of the museum. This will be followed by a demonstration of the bagpipes and an opportunity to learn and play this challenging instrument.

Day 3 – Wednesday 27 September 2023
Today enjoy a full day at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping in Glasgow.

Day 4 – Thursday 28 September 2023
Depart Glasgow and travel north this morning, via beautiful Loch Lomond, with a stop at Luss to admire the many lovely lakeside views around the most romantic of Scotland’s lochs, and at Ballachulish for the Glencoe Visitor Centre.
Continue to Fort William, the traditional ‘gateway to the Highlands’ set amidst dramatic mountain scenery. Its setting is dramatic, on the shore of Loch Linnhe and under Britain’s highest mountain. Here there will be some free time for independent lunch before continuing along the shores of Loch Ness to Inverness. This evening after dinner proceed to the Burns Suite for an evening of entertainment by Highland Way.

Day 5 – Friday 29 September 2023
Depart Inverness this morning to visit the most northerly of Scotland’s great houses, Dunrobin Castle. There will be time here to visit the interior of the castle as well as the museum and gardens and watch a falconry display.
After time for lunch here, head south to The Singleton of Glen Ord Distillery for a tour and tasting at 2.00pm before returning to Inverness.

Day 6 – Saturday 30 September 2023
Enjoy a short cruise on Loch Ness this morning, followed by a visit to the ruined Urquhart Castle on the shores of the loch. Return to Inverness for some time at leisure in the city centre in the afternoon.
In the late afternoon enjoy a ceilidh in one of Inverness’s lively venues. There will be time for independent dinner in the city centre before a transfer back to your hotel around 8.00pm.

Day 7 – Sunday 1 October 2023
Depart Inverness and travel south through the Cairngorms National Park to Blair Castle and Gardens for a visit. Stop in Pitlochry for independent lunch before continuing to Edinburgh to check in to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 8 – Monday 2 October 2023
This morning visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse, at the foot of the Royal Mile. Later continue to Lady Stair’s Close to visit the Writer’s Museum, celebrating the lives of three important Scottish literary figures – Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson (please note that depending on group size it may be necessary to split into smaller groups for the visit).

Day 9 – Tuesday 3 October
Today enjoy a full day tour of the Borders region. Your first stop will be the 15th century Rosslyn Chapel, then continue south to Traquair House, the oldest continually inhabited house in Scotland, for a visit.
Following this visit travel to Melrose. Here you will visit the first Cistercian monastery founded in Scotland, Melrose Abbey, considered to be one of the most magnificent examples of medieval church architecture in Britain. Return to Edinburgh in the late afternoon.
This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with entertainment at the Spirit of Scotland.

Day 10 – Wednesday 4 October
Transfer to Edinburgh Airport for your return flight to the USA.
