Arrive Dublin on October 3, 2022, aboard American flight #0208 at 11.40 AM

Day 1 – Monday, October 3, 2022

Céad míle fáilte!   Arrive Dublin at 11.40am.  Meet our Irish driver/guide in the arrivals hall and start our Irish journey.  Stop on route in Malahide for a tour of the castle, some free time to explore the Avoca shop or enjoy a cup of tea/coffee in the Avoca café.  Travel north to Belfast.  Time to relax or take a stroll around Belfast from your city center hotel. Dinner tonight in our hotel.

Day 2 – Tuesday, October 4, 2022

Today we will visit the Titanic Belfast, a must see visit in any tour of Northern Ireland. It is located in the heart of Belfast, on the slipways where RMS Titanic was built. Inside this iconic building, we will re-live the entire Titanic story from her birth in Belfast to the fateful maiden voyage and her eventual discovery on the seabed. Next a local guide will take us on a two-hour tour through Belfast City, rich in Victorian and Edwardian architecture followed by free time.

Day 3 – Wednesday, October 5, 2022

After breakfast we will drive along the beautiful Antrim coast.  Our first stop will be at the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and then it’s on to the Giant’s Causeway, a mass of 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns formed over 60 million years ago.

Legends about giants abound, especially Finn McCool, a hardy Ulster hero. Next stop will be in Derry where a local guide will take us on a walking tour around Derry still mostly encircled by its medieval city walls. They are among the best-preserved city fortifications in the Western World.  We will learn about the city’s fascinating history while enjoying some spectacular scenery.  We will arrive in Donegal with time to freshen up before dinner at our hotel overlooking Lough Eske.  Overnight: Harveys Point, Donegal (B, D)

Day 4 – Thursday, October 6, 2022

After a delicious full Irish breakfast we will visit Slieve League where we will experience a view that is guaranteed to take our breath away. The cliffs of Slieve League in Donegal are the highest sea cliffs in Europe. A sheer drop of roughly 2,000 feet separates the Atlantic Ocean from the highest point of the cliffs.  Visit the Triona Design Center and see the tweed making process from start to finish.  Some time to shop and enjoy complimentary tea and freshly baked scones.

Day 5 – Friday, October 7, 2022

On our way to Westport we will stop in the village of Drumcliff to visit the grave of the famous Irish poet W.B Yeats. See the stunning Benbulben Mountain in the distance.  Our next stop will be at the Museum of Country Life near Castlebar where we will learn of traditional ways of life in Ireland through trades, crafts, farming, hunting, fishing, domestic life and festivals.  Onto Westport for lunch and time to take a stroll around this lovely, planned town. Westport is nestled safe at the foot of towering Croagh Patrick, overlooking Clew Bay and its enchanting islands.

Day 6 – Saturday, October 8, 2022

Our drive today will feature some of the most picturesque touring in the Northwest.  Starting at Clew Bay, which is reputed to have 365 islands, we will continue via Newport and across the Curraun Peninsula to reach Achill Island.  We will meander along the Atlantic drive to capture the wild and wonderful scenic views of steeply sloped mountains plunging into the shimmering Atlantic Ocean, all the while being entertained with lore’s & legends by our entertaining driver.

Near Slievemore you will be able to see the Deserted Village, which is home to the remains of nearly 100 abandoned stone cottages.  The terrain in this region varies from windswept bogland to golden beaches.  The drive will conclude back in Westport where you will have time to unwind before joining your fellow group members for dinner in the hotel.

Day 7 – Sunday, October 9, 2022

After breakfast we will begin our journey to Galway. Relax and enjoy the scenery of the wild and wonderful Connemara region. Visit the Connemara History & Heritage Center.  The Center offers a unique insight into the history and heritage of this beautiful part of the West of Ireland.  See how turf (peat) is cut and sample a drop of ‘poitín’. The drive continues through the magnificent Connemara Peninsula and the stunning views of boglands and misty mountains. Arrive in Galway in the afternoon with time to explore, relax, or discover the perfect spot for a pint. Dinner will be on our own this evening.

Day 8 – Monday, October 10, 2022

cliffs of moherToday we’ll visit the magnificent Cliffs of Moher which rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.  Time to walk to the cliff edge and breathe in the fresh Irish air.  Return to Galway in the afternoon with some free time to explore the city on foot.

Day 9 – Tuesday, October 11, 2022

After breakfast travel east to Kildare.  Stop at the National Stud Ireland’s premier horse breeding center with some free time to explore the lovely Japanese Gardens.  Travel the short distance to Killashee Hotel.  After checking in we’ll experience the ancient tradition of Falconry, which has been handed down through the generations for over 4000 years.  It is the art of hunting with birds of prey. We can enter this world with their resident Falconers who will personally introduce us to the various birds of prey on display.  Time to relax and enjoy this lovely hotel before dinner.

Day 10 – Wednesday, October 12, 2022

After breakfast we will drive to Dublin Airport (B)
